PIECCA places the development
of its education and training sector as a high priority, particularly in view
of the need for ECE diploma qualified teachers at the centres with reference
to the government’s mandate for teacher qualifications by the years 2005 and
2010. PIECCA is in the process of establishing a memorandum of understanding
with AUT. AUT will deliver education and training courses as per agreement and
negotiation.
PIECCA intends to develop the Diploma Teaching (Pacific Islands ECE) with assistance from AUT, with the understanding that some of the research and development will be carried out by the holders of the cultural knowledge. Currently no training tertiary training provider meets the needs of the Pacific Early Childhood Education. It is important for PIECCA to become a provider as a needs response.
Enrolments for the ECE Diploma starts at the beginning of the year 2002 and will continue to do so till the year 2010. For further information contact:
